Contraception Update - Advanced

 

This session is support healthcare professionals who are already working in the field of contraception to provide up to date and evidence-based advice to their patients.

 

Course content/learning outcomes

 

By the end of this session attendees will have a greater awareness of: 

 

  • To be able to identify the main types of hormonal and non-hormonal contraception and  their risks, benefits, and side effects, including updated UKMEC guidance.
  • To recognise the main significant changes to oral contraception, including combined pill regime changes.
  • To understand the importance of LARC provision, and how to signpost safely.
  • An overview of all significant changes as per Faculty of Sexual and Reproductive Health (FSRH) and NICE guidance.
  • To know when to refer to GU/CaSH services.
