ECG training for HCAs and Allied Healthcare Professionals

This course is for a practical ECG training course, designed to enable Healthcare Assistants (HCAs) and similar roles to record accurate ECGs and begin developing interpretation skills.

 

Course Aims and Learning Outcomes

 

By the end of this course, participants will be able to:

  • Understand the relevant anatomy and physiology of the heart and its conduction system.
  • Correctly place ECG electrodes in the standard 12-lead positions.
  • Record an accurate 12-lead ECG and troubleshoot common recording issues.
  • Recognise a ‘normal’ ECG and identify some common abnormal ECG findings.
  • Develop foundational skills in recognising signs of ischemia and acute myocardial infarction (AMI).
