This contraception update session supports healthcare professionals already working in the field to deliver safe, evidence‑based, up‑to‑date contraceptive care. The course reviews current UKMEC, FSRH and NICE guidance, explores changes to oral contraception regimes, strengthens understanding of hormonal and non‑hormonal methods, and highlights the importance of LARC provision. Delegates will also learn when and how to refer safely to GU/CaSH services.

Designed to enhance confidence, improve clinical decision‑making and ensure high‑quality contraceptive consultations in primary care.

  • Identify the main types of hormonal and non‑hormonal contraception, including risks, benefits and side effects, with updated UKMEC guidance
  • Recognise significant changes to oral contraception, including new combined pill regime updates
  • Understand the importance of LARC provision and how to signpost safely

  • Know when referral to GU/CaSH services is appropriate
